... To The Beginning

... And so ended the darkness....

I like dramatic entrances. But here I am. Kenny D, also known as Hardcore Devore to several of my friends (I'll explain the nickname in a bit). I became inspired to do a blog after following my friends blogs on here. Several blogs on here deal with one or two issues. My post will be dedicated to mainly health but also random aspects of my life that mean/entertain/motivate me throughout the day.

So... before I begin ranting and raving about stuff you may or may not be interested in, let me give you a brief history of me.... starting a few years ago, because in the past few, so much has changed.

Like I said, my name is Ken. For several years I was always a big guy. Not overly fat, but close to it.  I was uncomfortable with myself, but was unwilling to do anything about it. I'll freely admit, I was lazy as.... well, you get the point. That all changed when I started Weight Watchers with my mother and then-girlfriend/now-ex.

I thought I'd give it a shot since my mother had been on it for nearly 2 weeks and had lost 8 pounds. So on January 19th, 2011, I started Weight Watchers at 6ft 6in tall, weighing in at 318.6 pounds. Yea, I was a heavy dude. At first it was easy, then it became hard. But after the hardness ended, I looked at it as easy again. A life style change was what I needed, and I got it with Weight Watchers. It hasn't always been easy, but every bit of it has been worth it.

A lot has changed since that cold, dark January night 15 months ago. I graduated school, started going back to school, got a motorcycle, went through a nasty break up, moved into my own place, got back into a relationship, got promoted, and a few other things. But the one thing that has remained a constant was my drive to be healthier. I feel better about myself. Plain and simple. Still not where I want to be, but I'm getting there.

So, after all that introduction, let me just end with I love heavy metal, movies, motorcycles, and a bunch of other things that may or may not be relevant to this post. Oh yea, and the nickname, well I got it from a coworker of mine. I was telling him about my love for heavy music and it just came to him. It's stuck ever since. I'm really not that hardcore in life.

So... this post will be pretty plain. Still learning how to do all of this picture and video stuff, so I'll just leave this first post of many as it is now, and I'll see y'all later.

Have a good one.
